It isn't as good as Deltora (Is anything?), But this is still an excellent book which will greatly appeal to fans of Rodda's work. I found the characters engaging, and the plot to be as wonderful as I had expected. I enjoyed the story and I'm looking forward to the next one in this series.

My nephew enjoyed reading Emily Rodda's Deltora series at the local library and said he really liked her work. So, as a birthday present, I bought him this book, along with 'The Silver Door' and 'The Third Door.' He loves it and told me he read 47 pages of 'The Golden Door' the first night!
The Golden door is a great book for young ages I personally think it is worth 6 out of 5 it is great can't wait to read the other books in the series.

This fantasy genre novel was great. I was into it from the first page. although it is basically a 8-12 novel I read it as part of a literature unit for university. I was not disappointed. My 10 year is now reading it and we cannot wait to read the Silver Door. Very well written.
Emily Rodda has done it again. We started reading her books when the kids were younger and though they are in their late teens now we couldn't resist checking out this new series. It was great we had fun discussing which twist we saw coming and which we didn't. Fun books no matter how old you are.
Emily Rodda is fantastic at structuring children's books, and at creating unique and fantastical worlds. Even as an adult, I can still read her books and be completely engrossed by them. I do wish she included more female characters, because I always loves the ones she writes so much.
